Our courses are thoughtfully designed with a strong focus on practical communication, enabling you to use and understand basic Greek phrases from your very first lessons. Whatever your personal goals may be, our primary mission is to empower you with the confidence you need to speak and communicate in Greek with ease and assurance.
Flexible Learning Options
We understand that adult learners have busy schedules and diverse commitments. To support your learning journey, we provide a versatile range of courses. We offer both online and face-to-face group classes to ensure the best possible learning experience.
Online classes
Our online programme offers the widest variety of levels, accommodating learners from beginners to advanced. The classes are primarily held on weekday evenings, scheduled in accordance with our tutors’ availability. The lessons take place once a week and last for 1.5 hours. This option provides the ultimate flexibility, allowing you to learn from the comfort of your home or office.
Please note that our online lessons might be recorded for training purposes or to help students that might be absent.
Face-to face classes
For those who prefer a traditional classroom experience, we welcome you to join us in person. These classes take place once a week on Saturday mornings from 9:30am to 11:00am. They are held in our school premises in Salford where there is ample parking space. Availability to face-to-face classes is limited. We kindly encourage you to contact us in advance so we can verify if there is an active class that matches your proficiency level.
Courses and classes
Beginners & Intermediate course
Our core curriculum is structured as a 3-year learning pathway, designed to take you to confident communication.
If you wish to further expand your knowledge and continue your Greek language journey, we will be delighted to discuss advanced options for you.
1st year (Beginner 1)
At your first year of learning, you will learn how to read and write the language with confidence, master the fundamental grammar to construct your first sentences, and acquire practical vocabulary and phrases for daily use. By the end of this year you will be able to handle basic, everyday interactions with ease. New students can only join this class up until the second lesson of the term.
2nd year (Beginner 2)
As a second year student you will elevate your speaking and comprehension skills. You will expand your knowledge of essential grammar -including the ability to confidently communicate about events in the past and future- and significantly enrich your vocabulary. This year is designed to empower you to participate in more complex conversations and express your thoughts more fluently.
3rd year (Intermediate)
During your third year at our school you will slowly transition from conversational basics to more independent communication. Over the course of the year you will have the chance to learn more complex aspects of Greek grammar as well as expand your vocabulary across diverse topics empowering you to engage in more meaningful conversations.
Advanced
They differ from the previous classes as they are customised based on the students’ objectives.
If you wish to continue your learning path at this advanced level please contact us. We will assess your learning goals and check availability to find the perfect class that suits your needs.
Depending on the needs of the class, you might need to purchase books or print more material.
Course material
For our basic 3 year course, all necessary learning material is fully provided by the school, so you won’t need to purchase any external books. The face-to-face students will receive printed copies of all the material alongside full digital access to them online. The online students will receive the digital copies.
Homework
Our classes require 1.5 to 2 hours of independent weekly study. The first 5 months constitute the most crucial period as you will be acquiring a significant amount of foundational knowledge. Moreover, staying on track with your weekly assignments is not only essential for your own progress, but also creates a supportive and steady environment for your peers. We strongly encourage our students to actively use words/phrases learnt daily -even if they have to blend them with English at first!- as much as possible. This builds muscle memory quickly and reduces the time and effort required for your weekly homework.
Already have some knowledge in Greek?
If you already possess an intermediate or advanced understanding of the language and would like to continue your learning journey with us, we would love to help you.
Please contact us to assess your current language level and discuss the best options for your goals.
Classes for Certification in Greek
Our school offers specialized preparation lessons for the official Greek certification exams, known as Ellinomatheia Exams which are held once a year. Our school operates as an examination centre as well therefore, our team knows precisely how to guide and prepare the students for these exams.
The structure of these lessons is different compared to our general language courses, placing stronger emphasis on grammar, spelling and exam techniques. The students are required to purchase textbooks for these lessons. The type of books, ultimate length of each lesson and the frequency of classes per week will be fully tailored to your current knowledge of Greek, your abilities and individual needs.
Please contact the school to discuss the options that we can offer.
Cypriot Dialect
For students interested in exploring the unique Cypriot dialect, our school offers to all out registered adult students, complimentary online lessons once a month, beginning every November.
This is a 1.5-hour speaking-only class designed to help you understand Cypriot and use it as confidently as possible. Before each lesson, you will receive a phrase guide. During these sessions, you will be using these phrases through speaking practice with your tutor and peers. The dates and times of these classes along with the lesson’s link are announced at the beginning of the academic year.
